The City of Puyallup is leading an independent review of the environmental impacts of the Knutson Farms Industrial warehouse project. The project includes a total of seven (7) proposed warehouses, totaling 2.6 million square feet, over a 162-acre project site. While located in Pierce County, the project will have significant impacts on the City and its residents.
PUBLIC COMMENTS:
PHASE 1: In Phase 1 of the environmental analysis, the City collected public feedback on the topic areas and scope of the review. The comment period ran from November 17 – December 17, 2020; the project website received over 1,700 user visits, and over 300 public comments were submitted. The most frequently received comments were related to concerns over traffic impacts, air quality impacts, impacts to plants/animals and critical biological resources, and use of the land for warehouses/loss of agricultural land.
A report of the public comments is now available for public review: Knutson Farms Scoping Comments Received
NEXT STEPS
PHASE 2: The City is now moving into Phase 2 of the project, which will include an in-depth analysis of the project impacts. The city has hired a team of environmental consultants to conduct a rigorous and independent review of the project. This phase is expected to take 8-10 months, concluding with a draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) report in the fall of 2021.
PHASE 3: There will be further opportunity for public review and comments when the draft EIS report is released.
